PAWTUCKET, R.I. (May 19, 2005) – The Hasbro Properties Group (HPG), the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS), intends to license its popular TRANSFORMERS brand to IDW Publishing for the introduction of a new line of TRANSFORMERS comic books.

IDW's biggest claim to fame is probably is Jon Sable, Freelance,
Grimjack, Despardoes (sp?), Wyona Earp, and 30 Nights.

They also publish comic based on Metal Gear Solid, Castlevaina, Angel, 24, CSI, and now Transformers

Yeah, pretty much my response.

The question on the lips of most people is whether the existing mini-series are likely to be wrapped up or whether there are legal issues.

If those guys can handle other licensed properties, they might be a good choice after all. That of course depends who they get to work on it.

Let's wait and see.

Well wasn't expecting them to get the license. I've heard of IDW before, but yet to read any comics published by them. I think I'd have to see who's the creative team and what titles they're going to publish first.

The comic books are expected to include the classic Generation One (G1) storyline, as well as new plotlines and new series, and would be distributed to a wider audience through comic book outlets, trade bookstores and mass retailers.

Well, I'm in.

I hate having to crawl all over town to find the comics. Even when I do find a shop that has them, they might have one or two old ones.
