Soul of Chogokin Ideon

Post by Cliffjumper »

Oh yes, this thing is gorgeous... Looks exactly like the cartoon, nice intuitive separation/formation, weighs about 12 metric tonnes... The articulation is great, and I dearly love all the little Buff Clan craft he comes with. And I haven't even got batteries for him yet.

Downsides - the joints can't support some poses due to poor weight balance (sadly this includes both the Ideon Gun and Ideon Swords... while they do have transparent stands, I was kinda hoping he could hold them without). Also needs a little tiny figure of Cheryl holding Lou up like some mad Aztec priest.

Lovely.

So much info can be gathered from one picture.

1. He's freaking huge.
2. You like Big Daddy, and you pose him the same way I do Downshift.
3. You are a matchstick man
and
4. You have a pimp-ass cellphone.

Nice! I've been thinking about buying this one for quite a while. It'd be one of my first SoC's (Baikanfu, Evangelion Unit-03...and a couple of "Spec" pieces, which hardly count). If I may ask: how much did you get yours for?

They're for show, pretty much... they don't seem to form an offensive surface in any configuration.

He cost me GB £70, plus ~ £30 shipping... most of the ones on ebay seem to be going for ~£100 before shipping, so I'm pretty happy with that. He's getting rarer, the character just isn't big enough for the toy to get reissued a la Combattler or Tetsujin.

The accessories are a bit crap on the whole, to be honest. Both the Ideon Gun and Ideon Swords are tricky to balance even with the stands, though one of the hands for the former on mine seems to be a bit loose. But then I don't really use the accessories for my other SoCs, so this was less of a bother for me. He does interact well with those little Buff Clan tripod jumper things all over him, though. And he does the combination pefectly like the show - he can even sit up in just the right fashion.

Ooh, that is a pretty good deal compared to the prices I usually see people ask for it.

The Gun and Swords don't really look that great, but I'm fascinated by all the little craft you get.

So, I'm currently more tempted than ever to buy this...next time I end up with the sort of money for it, I'll have two choices. Either go for Ideon immediately, or hold out a bit longer until I can afford Godmars.

I know someone who happens to hate the Ideon as far as SRW games go, but when he saw this, he had nothing negative to say about it. Shocking. :P
No longer looking for RID Dreadwind, but I still need Smokejumper. I'm also in need of Mammoth Nemesis Prime's tail piece, as my figure lacks it. Send me a PM.
