[Prime] S02E08 Nemesis Prime

Post by Skyquake87 »

episode 8 'Nemesis Prime' another average episode. It falls prey to something that aflicts all Nemesis Prime's : just what is the point of trying to undermine the original by being painted all dark and emo? You might as well have a big sign around your neck saying ' i are a evil villain'. Why Mech would have gone for creating an Optimus KO is beyond me too - I thought their interests were purely mercenary, so why go to the lengths of trying to discredit the Autobots when you know its going to bring the weight of numbers down on you? Silly. Still, a good outing for Agent Fowler and next episode looks like we might finally get to see what his superiors actually expect of him being a liason and some nice foreshadowing with Breakdown's body at the end - no doubt heading for another reinvention of the Headmaster process...

I think impersonating Prime was just a bonus, and you'll notice that Silas wasn't dissuaded very much when the 'reveal' happened. They remade the most powerful, most heavily-armed Transformer that they had yet seen - Optimus Prime. Personally I thought the weathering and the 'rough' transformation scheme were really nice details to show that MECH wasn't quite there in making evil clones.

Remember, their master plan is a long way off. MECH was just field testing their newest toy in the way they know best. Their only real problem, which Fowler exploited, was their arrogance and little myopia in their planning.

Just saw it, so disregard my previous ranting. Still took almost 3 days for a non subbed, non karaoke-d, non nothing version of a morning cartoon to show up.

I actually enjoyed it a lot more, as unlike the previous episode, I avoided EVERYTHING and spoiled nothing, so naturally I had no clue where this was going.

I do like the fact that they have a rusty, battered down look on the "Nemesis" Prime, and that the transformation is slower than usual and sounds different. I was under the impression that he was going to have an AI or something, not be a controlled drone. And I do hope he'll come back, one way or another.

Not sure what they're going to do with Breakdown, besides the obvious 'hey let's insert Silas's heart\brain whatever onto that bot', it seems a bit like a waste. I was hoping that they just used Breakdown's body as raw materials for Prime.
Few stuff in the UK to trade/sell. Measly sales thread.

My episode turned out to be some very, very boring by-the-numbers hardcore porn, so I'll have to wait for this one.

Not bad, actually. They avoided all the pitfalls of clone episodes (Prime being cleared within minutes, Bumblebee spotting it was the wrong Prime almost straight away). As Vanguard says, the subterfuge was an early bonus, which I liked. The big problem with A Prime Problem was that Megatron should have just used his clone Optimus to butcher the Autobots in combat because Optimus was by far the hardest guy in the pre-Movie cartoon instead of the "Hey, let's drive into this crater" rubbish. Here, MECH try it and nearly win.

Fowler r0xx0r-b0xx0red, obv. He's been a good, solid character when he could have just been a cheap punchline.

Loved the way they knew we knew Silas hadn't died and just came out with it instantly.

Liked the subtle Nemesis differences - the eyes, the transformation, the colour scheme, the inflection of the voice.

I had a fangasm the first time Fowler turned on the radio.
