...well, since news is a little slow in this quarter of the year:

Marvel Metamorphs

A few of them are really cool, and should appeal to some of you. Personally I really like the GR and SM models.

Who's Marve?

Eh. Never liked the look of the Shapeshifter line. Thing looks nifty, though. :)

They look nice, but - WHAT are they?

Is there a backstory somewhere? Any explanation about what we´re seeing?

As long as I don´t know more about them, I can´t say wheter I like it or not.
In a perfect world, this would be a signature. As it stands, it's just the lack of.

The toys themselves look good and I would most likely get them; however, does anyone know the backstory behind them or is this a just-for-fun moment for Marvel?

They're just-for-fun as far as I know.

Some people claim a noted similarity with Transtech designs, but I think they're reaching for something that either isn't there or is just generic futuristic.
Marvel Meta Morphs Assortment 1 - 71400-5
Assortment Includes:
3 x Spider-Man
2 x Wolverine
1 x Doc Ock

Marvel Meta Morphs Assortment 2 - 71405-5
Assortment Includes:
2 x Hulk
2 x Captain America
2 x Ghostrider
Case ratios seem quite sensible.

^ $20 price-point, apparently, and they may come with mini-figs for their appropriate characters. Seems they're mech-suits of a sort.

If you're bored, assign a TF character to each mould...

I would want one, just because of the characters they are using. They have already done something like this before. In fact, they only difference, is when they are not in their "alt" mode, they looked like their actually likeness.

I can remember some older spiderman ones, one with spider man turning in to a spider(how orginal) venom was turning into a two or three hedded monster, and the lizard(or what ever doc conners turns in to is named in english) could turn into a lizard

:\ Mm... don't like 'em that much, I'm afraid. Not from what I can see from that link, at any rate. This is the first time I've heard about this, so maybe other articles/reviews will persuade me to change my mind in the future. But for the moment... doesn't look too interesting, sorry to say.

Very nice artwork. I like, but the toys probably won't look anywhere near as cool.

Simply Lizard (in Italy); i remember this sets of toy ... they don't have a back story, and was produced only to be sold to collectors IMO ... despite i remember a series (Animorph) with human turning into animal ... could be that they want something similar?
... Now, with a TF Movie in progress they have this sets .... original! .... Next Coming: Green Goblin turn into a bat-plane figure (his own vehicle)
