Quite a few of the older, crustier posters have been talking about how the board was so much better back in the day blah blah blah. Well, seeing as I wasn't fortunate enough to be around back then, there are certain things I want to know, like:

Did Cliffy do a 'Hi - I'm a newbie' type post?

Have there been any really memorable posters that I missed being around? I was thinking how people who have only been here a month or 2 won't have had the Unicron G3 experience. Were there any other members like him? Well, not necessarily like Unicron G3, but just memorable in some way?

What was it like when Claypool was a mod and why isn't he a mod anymore dammit?

Do you remember what your first post was about?

Were the original topics about who became Cyclonus, was Rumble the blue one or the red one, the Constructicons origin etc. actually interesting at the time?

You know, just stuff like that. I want to know the best of the best and the worst of the worst.

I remember when I joined, a couple of weeks later Claypool was banned temporarily for Devastator-loving or something. He was warned not to post any more stuff about Devastator unless he had an interesting comment, and so he came up with a topic called something like 'So, why do you think the Constructicons were green?'. And then there was his party thread, and his hate list. I wish he still posted more. Anyway...

I remember on one of my first posts I was accused of resurrecting old topics because I had been reading the posts on page 2 or 3 of the G1 section and then asking a question on one of those threads. Like it was some kind of a blasphemous crime I'd just committed.

Ain't nothing wrong with people asking questions is there?

I didn't have a clue back then, still don't now, but all that talk of Mook's, Lurker's and so on, coupled with the 'Archive building' (colossal thread), and allocated rooms. Was a bit confusing back then for me.

I was wondering, anybody remembers TOPIC CLOSED or someone with a name similar? What the heck was he supposed to be, a "one flame per second" member?

It's strange hearing about the good ol' days, since in a year time , this will be the good ol' days.
I doubt Cliffjumper had a newbie post, but if he did, buy the time you finished reading it, he was already a seeker
I miss a poster called Inferno, boy did he new how to use emoticons or what!
there was this huge and tidious saga of who became Cyclonus(don't go in there if ya know what's good for ya).
I don't think we need another mod but that's up to them to deside and if Claypool wants he should only ask.
I feel like a newbie myself, so I'll let one of the geezers speek(strange that we don't have a poster named Kup).

Yeah - I remember Claypool's party thread - it was amazingly good fun...the mods banned it...Heck i even remember writting a big piece defending it...

I wish we could do a party thread again...

Yeah, that was probably one of my posts, I think I'm the only person that actually misses him. He was basically just the most illiterate person ever, he wrote some absolutely awful fanfic that made me cry (really, it did) I was laughing so much, and he would just start topics with words to various TF related songs and get the words totally wrong. He posted about 300 times within a week and then just disappeared.

And yep, I remember Topic Closed. Transfans can kiss my ass .

I remember Inferno too, not from the olden days, but he did come back for a little while when I was around.

Because he never actually did anything. He was, I seem to recall, the first person here I argued with... and not in relation to Transformers...

No... not really, because I'd read the Steve Stonebreaker's TF FAQ, and various site re-postings of ATT articles...

It doesn't take anyone who's seen the toys, comic and cartoons very long to realise that there are differences in Rumble's various opinions... then all it takes is for people with enough maturity to realise that other people might prefer a different canon to others, or even not subscribe to notions of canon.

after that he became involved in a debate between me and gravitron
and somehow during that, me and cliffjumper got into one of the biggest flame battles, until we finally sorted it out, and learned to respect each other and get along

you know what is funny? a question about the old days that only 4 (me being the 4th) old guys have responded too!

Cliffy's first: I do think it was comic related...

Memorable posters: much as i hate to admit it...none of us old guard will ever forget carly no matter how we may try.

The Rumble/Cyclonus: Not interesting...just flame fodder

the pre-ubb days were a hoot! the board was so crusty! Hell, i remember my early lurking days when skywarp was cliffjumper. it was different then...somewhat smaller...we still had gimmicks back then. The old board...ahhh....

then we went to this board it was pretty sweet compared to what we had been on...course then people like sghost came along and had to soil it!
