Hugo Weaving to voice Megatron in the Michael Bay movie?

Post by Nevermore »

Apparently the viral advertizing website "Sector Seven" sent out the following mail:
Operation Hungry Dragon 2 continues. As of today agent H. Weaving has officially convinced S.S., M.B., R.D and A.K. to oversee the Megaman issue. The recording will commence immediately.

All the years of investment into Agent Weavings public persona have finally paid off. We will monitor the campaign from the inside and report on its progress free from suspicion.

By this summer, the population will think N.B.E.'s are nothing more then figments of an overactive imagination.

Our power lies in our secrecy.
Weaving is best known for playing Agent Smith in the Matrix movies.

Thanks to Master Fwiffo for the news.

Someone has updated the wikipedia entry on Weaving to include Transformers. I know this doesn't really count as confirmation, but it's a start.

I'm going to have to find a few examples of his voice over work.

Quite a filmography behind him.
Come on and wind me up.

Maybe in your crazy world.

Where the rest of us live, he's best known for being in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.

For all his roles, he's a superb actor with a very distinctive voice.

Considering this Megatron is more similiar to the Predacon Megs, maybe this is a good thing.

I think they mean V for Vendetta, not the V mini-series from the 80s.

No one gets my humor.

Some of us do! :p

Could we have Kevin Bacon as Ironhide?

Anyhoo - Hugo's not a bad voice for the job. But what about poor Frank? Does his marvelous work as Nibbler not qualify him for instant Megatron reprisal role?

New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.

Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).

I'd rather have Agent Smith than the guy who did the noises for LL Cool J's parrot in Deep Blue Sea.

Actually, on second thoughts...

I thought it was funny.

And remember it's coming straight off the back of somebody responding to "rubbish - the only thing anybody ever remembers that he's been in is the one where he's a drag queen" with "but what about everything else he's been in?"

It's like the board's been surrounded by an "overly literal" field...

:( :( :( :(

Not that this version of Megatron particularly reminds me of the original, but if Peter Cullen is Optimus Prime, I would like to see the very versatile and accomplished Frank Welker as his opposite nuimber. Not to say that Hugo Weaving doesn't have a good voice - I could hear him saying "MISTER Witwicky";) But, while Ricardo Montalban has a great voice, dunno if I'd want him cast as Jazz. (Actually, he could be a nicely different take on Starscream...)

Anyway, it's too bad if Mr. Welker still wanted the role and didn't get it. And the producers seem to want to have their cake and eat it, too - casting one of the original voice actors to appease the fans, but then not any of the other (surviving) originals. Either it's a completly new take or it's not, it seems to me.

But according to imdb
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0418279/
Frank is listed as doing Megatrons voice...

So what? IMDB isn't always accurate, especially with stuff that isn't even out yet.

That has been up for a while...

It's too bad, but not too bad about Frank.

Did we all hear Welker's new Megatron demo from a few months back? Welker didn't sound much like the old Megatron.

Anyways it's not like Frank is hungry for work, the guy is in everything, And I think Weaving will make a great evil Megatron.
Come on and wind me up.
