Rumour: movie or Alt. Megatron?

Post by Denyer »

Could be fanart. Looks good, anyway.

Here's what the tank looks like:

Similar to some ideas fans have had previously:

edit: New one... Grimlock, only a thumbnail...

Spiffy. The color-guide picture is beautiful: Megatron's G1 animation model perfectly adapted to a not-handgun. They finally did it!

Assuming those are genuine, I'd gamble movie toy. It's already June of `06, so the movie's only thirteen months away. Given the stage of those drawings, it wouldn't be out until next spring when the movie line is about ready to go anyway.

That, and an Alternator tank would be a no-go unless they change to a smaller scale for such a large vehicle.

Still, spiffy

If the movie job doesn't look at least as good as this, there's no justice... this model of tank has apparently been mentioned in connection with filming, and the mechanics of the design seem sound.

this has to be the best image of megaron i,ve seen in a while. the design of his robot form nearly matchest his g1 body, and i can see how transformers into a tank.

he also dosen't look ovbious that he turns into a tank unlike warpath who at the time looked alright, but in my opinion blitzwing did the best job of hiding his alt.modes even thue he was a triple changer.

Good stuff. I hope it's genuine. But frankly, it seems too G1-ish to be movie related (assuming the Starscream design posted several weeks ago was legitimate).

If it is a design for Movie-Megs, it strikes me as odd the way the designers are staying true to the history of some characters, while reinventing others. **cough**Bumblebee**cough**<---assuming what we've heard about him is true.

I guess if it is Alternator related, Hasbro could change the scale...or just make a big toy and up the price.

The last one is signed by a guy named "David Willis". According to the IMDB, there IS a "David Willis" listed in the art department for Star Wars Episode II.

Not proof, I know. But certainly step in the right direction.

My gut still tells me fanboy art, though...

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more I think you're gut is right, trilobitepictures. It's got some fanboy touches--the detail on the face; the "abdomen"; the fusion cannon.

Good stuff, IMO, but I doubt it's real. God forbid we get any (even slightly) G1 related material in the movie :wall: At this point, it looks like we might get a G1 themed Optimus, a mute, non-bug Bumblebee, a 4-foot Soundwave, and a mutant Starscream. I doubt we'll merit a G1/G2 styled Megatron.

Erm, that David Willis is Walky, king of Wiigii, and had nothing to do with Star Wars. He's a fan, and runs Shortpacked.. and that's it.

Which is why it says "Similar to some ideas fans have had previously:" above that pic. If his name being on it and the majority of the fandom being aware of SP! (and that font being a custom based on his handwriting) wasn't enough...

The Grimlock design, from what I can make out, looks fantastic. His alt mode is very reminiscent of the G2 comics.

Ah yes, Grimlock looks nice and it's probably better and cheaper than the original...

The face especially is a little too similar to the cartoon animation model for me to particularly believe it for the movie, sadly, as it's a nice piece of work.

Interestingly, I'm surprised no one thought 'Attatix Megatron' ... it's actually what came to my mind first. :)

If this IS fan art, it's very, very well done... I could live with this design! The work on the face, the chest... If this is the movie design, it would be a good sign that this movie might be something which I would be interested in seeing. That's been looking murkier of late...

Ok, so my schematic is different apart from the arms, but I had the same colour scheme in mind.

If it's genuine it would be a very nice Megatron IMO.
Liking the Grimlock redesign as well.
Ah...forget it!

the first picture of megatron's robot mode looks a bit like the infiltration version
Let this be thy final lesson monster, no man is e'er defeated till his last breath is drawn! And e'en THEN, 'tis most unwise for the victor to assume the battle is ended, for with god and man, a war is ne'er over till the ultimate wrong is set aright and the final villain is DONE!
