RUMOR: Devil's Due to publish Transformers comics

Post by Nevermore »

From http://thetransformers.net/
Devil's Due have the license!!

Posted by: Phil Sherrill/Soundwave
According to my source, it would now appear that Devil's Due publishing has picked up the Transformers comic license. Now what this means for the current series (War Within, G1, Energon and the hotly anticipated Beast Wars) I have no idea, but I should imagine that these lines will be carried on as usual. With any luck, perhaps some, maybe all those who worked on the Dreamwave series will be pulled in to carry on the good work. Beryllium digital units crossed and watch this space!!!
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

If this involves Pat Lee, the only word on my lips will be 'boycott'.

Doubt they'd have any interest in bringing him onboard since they have plenty of competent artists and, from the impressions I have of them, I really don't think they'd want someone like him horning in on their racket.

I seriously doubt they would bring on Pat Lee, his company is the one that went under. If this rumor comes to be true, then I just hope they bring on all the writers and artists that worked on the ongoing, The Age of Wrath and Energon.

I honestly hope that if anyone gets the license it would be these guys. i liked their treatment of G.I. Joe Vs. TF better than Dreamwave's.

What occourred to DC?
DD will be better, IMO, but ... or they will only distributor for the old DW material, while DC will create new comics?
Pick only the best DW artist, anyway

Reboot?? WTF??

I don't think I like this idea one bit. I think the Alternators would make a cool comic book but not introduced as a G1 Comic. I want the one DW was doing or at least something devoted to the original G1 as they were created in the 80's.

And the fact that it would include GI Joe villians pretty much just turned it off for me.

Two words here: "Seibertron" and "rumor".

I'm still waiting for those Alternators jets...

Sounds pretty cool, although the elementary grammar errors in the rumour don't help take it seriously.

The fact that I didn't even pay attention the spelling errors tell me how fast I was reading it but true, I guess I shouldn't take everything to fact though I think it is true about DD getting the TF license.

the bit about the G.I. Joe villains showing up seems to be based directly on the Japanese Binaltech story, which featured Iron Klaw and General Blitz (although they weren't directly identified as those characters).

One might assume that DD would need to get Ichikawa-san's permission first before they adapt his story.

Yeah, not to stir up any of the old rivalries, but the news people there make crap up if they find themselves behind other sites...

That I do actually think is a possibility due to the rumblings reported from OTFCC last year, but I think the jets will be something Hasbro comes up with for the line instead of Takara.

More on-topic though, if they're making an Alternators comic, that's not G1 rebooted, that's a tie-in with the Alternators line. Wouldn't mind seeing most of the DW team (other than Pat Lee) at Devil's Due, but I don't expect DD to let in any of the old art team.

Don't really like the G.I. Joe Extreme going into a TF book.

Dear God, please no more GI:Joe crossovers, they're all pants...

I suspect the only reason WW and BW are being picked up is that there are already unreleased issues drawn and written, a case of waste not want not... (if any of this is true mind...)
