Wiki Wiki Wow

Post by Lonewyrm »

Does anybody know, or more importantly, can anyone explain why there are two TF wiki?
http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
and
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Main_Page

They were definitely contributed to by a lot of the same people, some of the pages are exactly the same on both, although they do seem to be diverging a bit now. I can't see any difference in their policies on stuff like Fansproject add ons and the like. Just wondering, did a search here and on google, nothing turned up

The people who used to work on the Wikia site got upset about Wikia's treatment involving the ads and such and left and made their own website. The Wikia site is full of people that stayed behind and most new articles are copy/pastes of TFWiki's.

The accuracy of this statement is questionable, to say the least.

Poor phrasing on my part, as usual. I meant some people stayed behind.

One day there'll be a unification bout and it'll all be back to normal.

And hopefully less "hilarious" and self-referential.

I'm finding it more and more irritating as a secondary source for back up infor on the comic reviews, especially the errors sections which often seem to be full of shit. I mean, the Sideswipe Coda story was terrible in every possible way but picking on the inaccuracy of the flashbacks when it's stageringly obvious the whole things the delusional and subjective memories of a dying mind is a tad unfair.

Last time I used it for checking a few bits, most of the pages were nearly empty, apart from wacky graphics and pictures with h-i-i-i-i-i-larious captions. The odd joke's fine, but the strained attempt to come up with riffs and the seeming need that every caption has to follow it aren't.

That's your interpretation of the story. If it was all just supposed to be how Sunstreaker remembers it, why publish it at all?

That's a fairly obvious interpretation, unless the wiki writer thinks all the "Sunstreaker [Not Sideswipe of course, bugger] you're so wonderful, lovely and brilliant" stuff at the start is supposed to be literal, plus the pull out his eyes at the end is a fairly standard narrative technique to convey that sort of thing (an episode of Robot Chicken of all things I've watching at the moment just did the same thing). Even there is wiggle room the wiki doesn't (or rather didn't at the time I looked at it) even mention the possibility.

As to the point of the whole thing, that's the real question.

At least it was only half an issue, unlike the entire issue of "this is probably just a dream, so has no actual relevance to anything" Mirage Spotlight.
