TF Live Action Movie toys
If they use the original G1 characters in the movie, I'm sure Hasbro will release tie in toys, But i hope they're retooled molds not just another round of reissues .

RiD pwns G1.Originally posted by TURBO CHARGER
Yeah, I'd like to see hella mobility, but keeping true to the original characters. Not like those ****ty RiD toys where the where the vehicle parts aren't really part of the robot.

Lots of G1 toys look good, without posability. Many RiD toys look like garbage, but a lot more fun to play with. It's a question of taste, I suppose. But give me pretty bricks any day.
I'll take RiD Prime, Scourge and the Bullet Trains over any G1 toy, except Hound he's just a really nice looking brick. Actually I'll take 90% of the RiD toys over just about anything G1. I have this funny thing about quality, I like my purchases to have some...

It's not that I don't like the RiD toys. Scourge, Prime, Magnus, and lots of the Preds are very nice. It's just that I like the die-cast cars from 84/85 better. Sideswipe, Prowl, Hound, Inferno...they just look a lot better to me than, say, the RiD Autobot Brothers.
I will say that I'm not really impressed with Sideburn or X-Brawn but Prowl is awesome. Aside from those two though the rest of the line is almost entirely better than say, Sideswipe or Wheeljack. Most of the 84/85 Autobot cars are really chunky looking in robot mode. They look like they'd be awkward and slow in real life or that they'd easily lose their balance. Then there are figures like Sunstreaker, Ratchet and Ironhide whom look completely hideous in robot mode.
All three of the Bros. just look too organic in robot mode, I think. I like robots to look a bit chunky, ala Sideswipe or G1 Prime.
I admit RiD had some very nice toys. But it has a few bad ones (Bruticus, Slapper). Lots of repaints (Skybite, Scourge, Fort Max, Spychangers, Ruinition). The Trains have nice robot modes, but their alt modes aren't exactly insipiring.
A very good toyline overall, but I prefer the look of G1 toys.
And, to be honest, BW blows either of them right out of the water.

Now see, I liked the Car Bros better than anything else (Kay, maybe except for Battle Convoy). It's what I first wanted when the series came out in Japan. Got Wildride first, and ended up getting Mach Alert and Speedbreaker at BC 2000. I've always been very happy with all of them. The only thing I didn't like was Speedbreaker's hip joints always go loose.
I'd like to see a true-to-the-old-concept type of look in a new toyline to go with the movie, but with super poseability as well.

I prefer tractor trailer over fire truck, Sunstrereaker & Sideswipe over the Car Bros., & 4 seasons over 30-something episodes.

I prefer quality over quantity...
Oh and Sunstreaker is a hideous abomination of an action figure if I may say so...
Also I prefer my Prime to have arms that don't extend past his knees when not bent at the elbow...
I submit that every version of Optimus as a toy is of better quality than the original toy. The same goes for Megatron...

Okay then if it's battle of wits is it you want? G1 toys are simpler to trasform & X-Brawn what's up with that, it's a stupid name, & do you think Omega Prime looked any prettier, & G1 had 8 gestalts while RID had 2! 2 f*ckin gestalts against 8, & one is just a repaint of one of our gestalt. Top that Hound.

Action Master Prime? Optimus Minor? Better than the original? I beg to differ.
I can't argue the Megs point, though. He ranks with Sunstreaker, Broadside and Landmine among the worst G1 had to offer, IMO.

Who called for wartime anyway?
Ah well...
I prefer Wildride over X-Brawn anyway (even if it's a take from the Stunticon Wildrider) and while transformations aren't as simple, the toy quality is superb.
If you wish to make the 8 (I've counted 9)-vs-2 (it's actually three) gestalt issue as a major point, let's also understand that the original toyline went through, as you pointed out, more years of production. The first year had no gestalts, the second had one. The third and fourth is where the expansion in gestalts truly began.
Subtracting Baldigus (RiD's "Ruination") from the account, Car Robots/RiD created two gestalts in one year. Not any type of record, but a good play by Takara if you need gestalts as a major arguement.
The only other thing to argue for G1 is the fact that, yes, they are simpler to transform. It does depend whether or not this is a deciding factor for fans or not. I'd prefer a little complexity, a lot of realism(they look like the G1 cartoon characters/whatever the movie guys look like), and a good amount of articulation. (It's the year 2003, enough with the bricks.)

Yay! Here I am bored, and up pops a helpful illiterate fanboy!
Lesse, 9 combiners over seven years, of which all were actually fairly ropey, against two over one year, or which one is actually good. Hehe, "our gestalt". God, fanboys are wankers.
If so, you'd best go and find someone to lend you some...Originally posted by Transformersfan2004

Yes, much simpler, especially classic moulds like the Firecons. You don't have to tax your tiny brain working out what's going on, a flustered fanboy can get their head 'round it in a second.G1 toys are simpler to trasform &
Says someone who chose Transformersfan2004. What exactly does it having a stupid name have to do with it being a great toy eh child?X-Brawn what's up with that, it's a stupid name,
I'm sorry, I seem to have thought you were talking English, when you blatantly aren't.& do you think Omega Prime looked any prettier,

Actually, RiD had 4 gestaults 1 one of which is a repaint of G1, the repaint being the brick of the family. His arms move, "yay".
(Omega Prime, Rail Racer, Landmine, Ruination)
G1 toys are definitely simpler to transform, simpler to play with, just plain simple. I like a little complexity in my action figures, y'know some action in them would be nice for one.
Omega Prime is a much nicer looking toy than the original Prime toy and a lot more entertaining to play with.
Now, if you are going to continue this let's get past the superficial **** like names, who gives a sh*t what it's called it's still a better toy.

It's funny about the fanboy community. If it's the toy they have the gripe about, it's always something superficial. A silly name, or whatever. If it's a cartoon series, it's some silly catch phrase that prevents them from seeing past to the fact that the show might actually be good.
And they always say some variant of the same thing: "I mean, like, What's up with that?"

To Transformersfan2004, please understand we are not bashing your opinion, only your approach on the matter and reasons for said opinion. Before you start griping about that.

Actually I wasn't a fan of either line. G1 was ****e, especially early G1. My favorite G1s are the later Autobot Headmasters and Decepticon Targetmaster toys. Oh and I like Computron too. And Scorponok. And Metroplex. But that really is about it. Oh OK, Soundwave too. The original cars were pretty ugly, although their alt modes were nice.
RID... I wasn't a fan of. The Car Brothers were ****, especially X-Brawn. I didn't much like the trains, Wedge is pretty cool from the Build Team, and Scourge was nice too. That's about it.
Armada's my favorite toyline so far, with the exception of the Micromasters, which really and truly ruled.
