Star Fleet / X Bomber: new Big Dai X from Dynamite

Post by Denyer »

Worrying, this thread seems like yesterday...

http://www.collectiondx.com/news_item/1 ... star_fleet

That's about the only Japanese giant robot other than Go-Lion (Voltron) I could go for...

Can't spot a smaller one in the proper colours... and besides, the vintage ones seem to be as expensive as this one will be...

Stupid baby.

Looks glorious... the vintage stuff is preposterously expensive. Put down a lot on the 6" version that didn't really do anything.

Holy crap, I had no idea Go Nagai was behind X-Bomber. I think I should check out the series now.

...or at least I would if it had subs. Is the dub any good?

I still think he looks like he's got a windmill for a face though.

IIRC they wrote dialogue to fit the recordings rather than a straight dub. I like it, holds up fairly well on the whole.

The soundtrack's available as well as a DVD set -- http://starfleetsoundtrack.com/

Still no sign of the toy being released...

Crap, I didn't even notice the thread was six months old already.

I'm pretty sure this toyline isn't dead, so I can only assume Big Dai X has gone the way of SRC Tetsujin 28FX.

Of course I could be wrong - but it baffles me that this toy has apparently been out for a while now, yet the closest thing I could find to a review is this unboxing video.

Was expecting it to be bigger tbh.

Not hit UK importers yet AFAIK, although expected this month or early next IIRC.

This might be the most overpriced barely-large-deluxe I've acquired.

Particularly relative to the quality. Not as bad as this guy's experience, though:

Paint one of the originals if it's an option.

On a side note, on the off-chance Tom or anyone else is still interested, it's likely to be considerably cheaper direct from Japan;

It's bloody beautiful but I can't justify that much on a robot anymore :(
