Display 'New Posts' Hierarchically?

Post by Zisteau »

I'm curious if theres a way for the 'New Posts' option at the top of the page to display the new threads hierarchically, i.e., in the order they appear in the forums. For instance, it is a little confusing looking for new RPG posts, when the threads are spread out sorted by date. I looked in User CP but did not see an option for this.

It may be the fact it's 3am here, but the order threads appear in each forum is by date, and there are only a handful of threads in the RPG one.

You can restrict the new posts shown by forum by adding &f=[id_of_forum] to the URL --

eg, http://tfarchive.com/community/search.p ... etnew&f=16

Or from the last 24hrs with do=getdaily --

eg, http://tfarchive.com/community/search.p ... daily&f=16

I was only using the RPG as an example. I may just be more OCD than most people. Maybe I didn't explain what I was talking about adequately.

On the right is how the forums are arranged. I like how they are separated categorically with transformers stuff and then non transformers stuff. I typically go vertically through the different forums that I'm interested in.

On the left is the New Posts option, with threads arranged chaotically (by date, anyway). I'm wondering if there's a code to get those threads to appear in the order they are arranged in on the right. (Yes, very OCD)

That seems to work well enough for what I was looking for. Thanks for the help.

AFAIK, current versions of vB don't have that behaviour either. If you can spot a plugin for this version or a more recent one I can look at it when I get time to do upgrades.
