He reminds me a lot of Super Megatron (Battlestars: The Return of Convoy), and a bit of a design that was kicking about with Cybertron.

If the toy isn't too stylised (difficult to tell from the trailer reel), then this is probably the one figure I'll pick up from the Animated line!

Nice to see a less 'radical' (or is that really 'random'?) design for the old loon!

New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.

Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).

Check out my new sale thread now!

Also items on eBay.

This megs looks like he means more business than Cybertron's version. I like the combination of old school megs and new school designing.

I have to admit, it looks pretty good. Wonder what the vehicle mode looks like.
As a professional tanuki (I'm a Japanese mythological animal, and a good luck charm), I have an alarm clock built into me somewhere. I also look like a stuffed animal. And you thought your life was tough......

I like the fact that the book version is still called Animated.

I like it. Finally a character without the Leno chin. But even beyond that, he's got a great but simple style to him.

Hold on, let me get the fanboy thing overwith:

WUHT!? NO FUSON CANONN? TAHTS NOT MEGATRON!!!!!!!1

Kay then.

He draws very heavily from the "G1" look. I'll have to see what his toy looks like.

Not bad, very interesting to see a megatron with a sword. His legs look a bit thin though.

Btw. if that is volume 2, what does volume 1 look like?

You wouldn't get much on those drumsticks! Other than that, I like the tribute to G1. If the toy turns out reasonable and has a little more to the thighs, I might well bite.

Er - the second book is out Jan 2008. That's quick...

Just the toy. Can't recall if he had one in the comic... don't think so. There was that energon dagger thing in the movie.... other than that, not unless I'm really forgetful.

He DOES have a fusion cannon; The toy featured during the animated trailer had one. By the way, when is that book coming out?

Odd the books are up on Amazon before there's been any formal announcement of the comics they'll be collecting (bar the fact there will be some). Or are IDW going staright for the book format?

Personally, I'm expecting Ladybird-esque TF:TM adaptation "stills" from the series...
