Test shots of Classics Constructicon Devastator

Post by Nevermore »

Just as a reminder:

First shown at BotCon. Named "Constructicon Devastator", Wal*Mart exclusive, straight repaint of Energon Constructicon Maximus, no remolding whatsoever. Unless something drasitcally changed, the individual components are named "Bonecrusher", "Scavenger", "Decepticon Scrapper" (!), "Hightower" and "Long Haul".

Ah I see, recolour something to the colour it should've been originally when it was named Devastator and you can label it a "Classics" TF! Gosh these guys at Hasbro are clever!

You know, Hasbro should pay more attention to what fans get up to in their spare time:

Who knows, they might discover a great idea, like making a really cool Devastator to sell, one that people would really want, and one that wasn't a repaint of a silly mould.

I would've thought that the whole "redesigning 20 year old characters with no cartoon tie-in" dealy was listening to their fans. Devastator is a store exclusive, which means that they won't shift enough units to make it worth creating a new mold.

Because that's the current line and Devestator is done up in classic colors.

alright, that is understandable. i guess it is understandable why they just repainted the cybertron version. i jsut am dissapointed that they didnt just redo everything from the old toy. thats what i like about the "Classics" line, they redo everything completely, but keep true to the original designs. but to each his or her own XP. i just knwo my puter is complete with Hot Rod guarding my pc screen XD

My biggest complaint with this figure is that they used THREE molds for FIVE characters.

Agreed, especially when two of them are the Dust Storm repaint from energon. Not a massive fan of that mould. Poseable but I cant get over the Crane Hook arm.:(

combiner teams always have a measure of give and take in thier designs. the individual robots generaly suffer for the sake of the combination mechanism. therefore i cut these toys a little more slack.

Very true but i still think they could have done somthing with the crane arm like put it on his back anything than what we have now. Oh well its somthing we just have to acept, like with x brawns front of his car tacked on to his arm. Beware my mighty club fist of doom!!!!

Gotta admit, I really wish that they had made two new molds for this one (A dump truck and a mixer maybe? Guys?). And if we get 'Constructicon Scrapper', why are we fargin' stuck with 'Hightower' instead of 'Constructicon Hook'?

Wasn't it the same custom-made jobby some chap at Big Board ordered, and what he got was a box full of broken diecast toys?

Fans are calling it "Classics". Hasbro don't use the word "Classics" anywhere on the packaging of Constructicon Devastator. It's merely a "Classic-themed" toy.

Should be in the BotCon galleries somewhere.

'Classics' does indeed refer to specific toys within the line... but, that doesn't mean that when an homage IS done, that they should just poop it out, either.

Devvy isn't a terrible idea or even terrible execution, but it very easily could have been a lot more.

Nope, that's something different: a 15 inch statue shipped in a 12 inch box, if I recall.

The people-sized Devastator is, well, people-sized. I saw it in person at Botcon. It was really quite impressive, even if I did forget the camera...

EDIT: Aha! Found it...

Imagine doing all that, and painting Long Haul incorrectly. Nice Pat "Perspective" Lee reference, though.

Any reason the mouth's open...?
