Over at DonMurphy.net writer Roberto Orci has once again been posting, this time on the status of the script and the final line ups for the characters. Mentioning that he was "just checking in before handing the script over" he was unable to comment on the actual final Decepticon lineup but commented:
Originally posted by Roberto Orci I can tell you this, it ended up being more than we originally thought or have stated publicly. You can just about double the list we gave out in previous interviews. So maybe a top ten list would be appreciated in the final hours.
It seems the Autobot lineup is pretty much set in stone at this stage, but the Decepticons could still change:
Originally posted by Roberto Orci Autobots are pretty much set, and some input from this (DM.net) board made to the script.
But there may turn out to be more Decepticons (for obvious dramatic reasons) so a top ten list of just the baddies would be good.
Post your top ten list in the ongoing thread HERE.
Hmm, I always thought the characters had a fairly good rep, mainly through being a bit different [more felonious than evil] and the only problem anyone had with them was the figures...
Having Shockwave with Starscream and Megatron is overkill.
Save Shockwave for the sequel.
My top ten:
1. Megatron
2. Starscream
3.. Soundwave
4. Rumble
5. Frenzy
6. The Constructicons- the forming of Devestator should be the grand finale of the movie. I think if done right, this scene could be one of the greatest movie moments in sci-fi history. Period.
Instead of Runamuck and Runabout, I would have prefered Blitzwing and Astrotrain but they don't want to include triple changers.
Though I do agree with slim above about the Constructicons, I think the final moments of the movie, after its all said and done, you see them merge or on their way to merging, kind of like in X2, you see the shadow of the Phoenix in the water.
Originally posted by Cliffjumper You do realise there are six Constructicons, right?
Yeah. So 6 + 5 = 10.
Where's the problem?
I would have said leave Frenzy or Rumble out, but I think that it would be a great move to have them there for comedy relief as the "Tweedledee, Tweedledum" duo.
Hmmm, doesn't say much if he can consider changing a few characters 'just before' his script gets handed in, does it?

I found God. Then I lost him. He'll probably turn up down the back of the sofa someday.

Originally posted by Angelophile I figure people want some ground based cons but ddon't want to split up any gestalt groups to do it.
I'd hazard a guess it may have more than a little to do with fans having been reminded the characters exist over the past few months. (Years, with DW.)

Like in "War and Piece of Crap"? Let's hope they don't...

Well, the fact that they went from five Decepticons to 10, along with Bob's own comments, suggests the remaining Decepticons are there more for shock and awe rather than as having major roles to play in terms of character. They're probably pretty much interchangable, with the big five providing the real character drive.
