From all reports they're pretty good quality... $6 shipped (which is what these things should work out at apiece) isn't a bad price if you actually want one.

One of the larger quality control groups I think, though I'm really not sure what it stands for.

They charge a large sum of money to wrap your sealed toy in bubble wrap. It's meant to be quite sexual if you're a fanboy, and means the MISB Prowl you have is nice and easy to wipe clean. Remember those terrible comic grading services, where they seal the thing in mylar and allow you to charge forty times as much on ebay for X-Men #25? It's like that for toys. Their preparation is so thorugh they don't even read what's on the packaging, just take your money.

Good show. Anything that devalues sealed toys, and thus punishes fans sad enough to buy a transforming kids' toy, keep it sealed and not transform it, totally invalidating its' reason for existence, is a big plus in my book.

This is seriously one of your best posts that I've read in a looong time.

I'm perplexed enough by the people who keep stuff MISB, much less paying for those services.

As Remy says: A toy is for playing, not for keeping it in its packaging.

Basically, my defence for liking Transformers has always basically boiled down to the fact they're a really neat idea that's produced some really cool toys. By locking them away, that disappears. What use is a collection of sealed toys? You can look at it. But I can look at my toys, and play with them, and choose how they're displayed. If you have an MISB Jazz, you might as well have a toy Porsche and be done with it... it basically seems like hoarding for value to me.

Sealed in boxes... no, haven't a clue, as things can always be put back into boxes. Cards, I suppose it might be nice to have a duplicate that's sealed, if it's all transparent and the figure can be shown off well in situ. Of course, if a figure is packaged in alt mode, that argument's lost. Plenty of toy vehicles out there.

Not gonna stop me opening anything rare I get me hands on... if it's really rare, I might trade for a loose example and some ready cash, out of deference—I'm not particularly fussed about the act of opening something either.

That guy's definitely into bootlegs in a big way:

KO Binaltech Hound

Those big Op/Megs PVCs I'm pretty darned sure are fake

Kind of a shame the UK got Swindle rather than Hound. He's not bad.

Oh, that's the new packaging for Hound. The original packaging was 90% identical to the original Binaltech version.

Speaking of, I've also seen pics of a Swindle KO (called "AL-09 Hound") in the same kind of packaging as the first KO Hound run... and just today I saw pics of a BT Lambor KO, also in the same kind of packaging.

UPDATE: Several people reported lots of MOSC G1 Decepticon Cassette two-packs showing up, with Laserbeak and Frenzy being swapped inside their bubbles, and Rumble's missiles missing the chrome.

These things are supposed to be high-quality bootlegs probably coming from the same source that gave us the Beachcomber lots and the post-1987 toys with rubsigns.

Fantastic.

Not so fantastic if they're sold as originals, but if this doesn't induce Takara to get off their arses and reissue them to a keen market, nothing will.

Funnily enough, the "MISB original" prices might even be a reason for Takara to reissue them... I mean, the G1 combiner KOs, which get sold as KOs for trash prices, are considered a reason not to release more expensive official reissues.

But bootlegs sold as originals for scalper prices could give way for reissues sold at decent prices. :D
