Binaltech story chapter 14 to be included with WF exclusive BT-17 Black Convoy

Post by Nevermore »

Hirofumi Ichikawa will write another chapter for the Binaltech story (remember, chapter 1 was shared between Smokescreen and Lambor, and chapter 2 was shared between Streak, Hound and Tracks, so the chapter number is three numbers below the toy number), to be included with the upcoming Wonder Festival exclusive Black Convoy reported by Fan to Fan.

So that makes Black Convoy an official Binaltech toy after all.

Confirmation comes from Ichikawa-san's longtime associate and translator by choice, Doug Dlin, at alt.toys.transformers (ATT).

Coolness. I would def like to read it. Maybe they'll give the story a bit of an ending.

Here's a question: does E-Hobby sell to buyers outside Japan?

There's enough English on the site that I can navigate and find things, but not an English FAQ that I can find. It'd be nice if I could order a Black Convoy without a middle-man.

(Black Convoy still = convention + e-hobby exclusive, yeah?)

I want to see the package...there's definitely going to be a change sincer Convoy is bigger than the rest of the vehicles.

I'm really tempted to get one, but each time I try to decide about it I remember how dissapointed I am with Kiss Convoy's floppiness and design.

Technically yes, but it's complicated. I think Powered Convoy from Cosmic Rust has ordered from them before. Not sure how they handle Black Convoy, though.

Fan to Fan may be able to get in a few, but didn't make any promises regarding quantities.

Chapter 14 of ther Binaltech story is up now.

http://www.fantofan.jp/photo%20gallery/ ... /bt-17.htm

A few notes here:

1) The Concussion Blaster was the weapon of choice for both G1 Soundwave and G1 Razorclaw.

2) "Hiyokko" was a popular line Ultra Magnus said in the Japanese dub of "The Return of Optimus Prime", as hew as chasing down Rodimus Prime, thus confirming fans' suspicion about Magnus' true feelings about the Matrix being given to Hot Rod. The translation with "kid" reflects the corresponding dialogue in the original English version of the episode.

3) There's a deliberate distinction between "Black Optimus" (literally "black colored Convoy") and "Black Convoy" as a named character at the very end.

4) The literal translation for Jazz's sentence was "They (the Decepticons) seem to be in a state of confusion now, but I expect they'll soon be ready for the offensive." I took some liberties by rewording the sentence into something Scatman Crothers would say.

I don't know...I'm less than impressed with the ending of the Binal-Tech story. It's just really hard to follow and doesn't make much sense to me.

I feel like I've missed a few parts, but I've got all the stories, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Ah well.

I found the story very confusing too.

Plus lots of Japanese Super Robot stock deus ex machina plot conveniences.

From the e-bobby site (translated with Altavista Babelfish):
About the sale March 5th

You sold on March 5th "wander - festival 2007" winter "limited black
The convoy "is, but access it receives expectation of our company is exceeded order, starting sale
Directly it became complete sale.

Great annoyance is applied in the customer who plans purchase, serious
Excuse it was not. We apologize deeply.

That patronage it receives "e-HOBBY SHOP" even from now on, we ask may.
Well, that's Engrish for you. Working from that, I'd assume it means:
About the March 5th sale:

On March 5th, the "Winter Wonder Festival 2007" limited Black Convoy was for sale, but it sold out immediately.

This was a great annoyance to customers who planned to purchase the toy, but we can't make any excuses for the lack of availability. We apologize deeply.

We do request that you continue to shop at e-hobby.
...or something along those lines.

From what I've gathered from other sites and ebay auctions posted by people that obtained them from the actual show, the availability breakdown is a bit like this -

1000 were made (I've seen some state 800, but the general consesus seems to be 1000).
300 were sold at the actual convention. They sold out in an hour.
The other 700 went to e-hobby to be sold to Japanese residents only, limit 1 per customer. They sold out immediately, too.

The average 'second hand' price seems to be $250 to $300 for the few that made it outside Japan.

Yar :wtf:
