Well, it took long enough....;)

Escalation #6 five-page preview, brought to you by the lovely people at IDW!
Yay!!

edit:
SPOILER! (select to read)
Well, it looks like the folks who speculated that Prime transferred his core-conscious into his trailer/roller, were correct.
At least, it seems that way.

Like everything else TF related from IDW i'll be buying this.

Yep good ol' ATF, always plunkin' down for the comics, good or bad. IDW counts on my money like a landlord counts on the rent.
Come on and wind me up.

Pretty good. Never seen Hardhead take on Megatron before (in comics)! Also, never seen Hot Rod and Prowl work together before (in comics).

Unicron WAS great. Loved the 1986 movie, loved the throwback to Unicron in A/E/C, really did.

But, I'm done with Unicron now. Been There, Overused That.

Let Unicron rest in peace, it's all he ever wanted.
Come on and wind me up.

Nah, I'm interested in main new continuity. Beast Wars already has Unicron in it owing to the various extensions to its continuity.

You're lucky I didn't scan the page I wanted to use.

Spoiler tags around a graphic image...hmmm, fun. Anyways, I'm loving what IDW are doing so far, the way everything is linked together is mind-boggling.

The stuff that turned Thunderwing into a galactic threat, the stuff that Nightbeat discovered in his 'Spotlight' issue - I reckon it's all part of a new 'dark god' (one of Unicron's brothers or sisters) or at least a 'dark force'. This possibility was mentioned way back in G1 UK #150.

This is a fresh continuity, thus anything siad in Marvel doesn't matter and as has been mentioned there will be no Unicron in this continiuty.
Also as Denyer notioned, Unicron isn't all that great plot wise (or all that novel either), so why can't we just leave him and any slight modifications along the "dark god" theme alone.

You must be referring to the deposits of the "mysterious" ore that Shockwave placed through out Earth (Shocker's himself refers to it as raw energon). Which is also the same exact ore that Bludgeon used to revive Thunderwing, as seen in Soundwave's Spotlight, ultimately causing the events seen in Stormbringer, AND is also the same stuff the Megatron is currently juiced up on.
Unicron, thank Dreamwave's rotting corpse, had nothing to do with it.

On the other hand, a 'dark force' could be created and perhaps controlled by mere mortals - carbon-based beings, iron-based beings, silicon-based beings, etc. An experiment gone wrong is a common sci-fi theme. Also, it could evolve from humble beginnings as micro-organisms: a kind of sneaky inter-stellar contagion! From the look of it, the 'whatever-it-is' has been around for a long time and is pretty powerful and resourceful by now. A clever, scheming entity is more entertaining than a mindless one, so I think that the writer would rather it be clever.

Raw energon alone might not be sufficient to make Transformers freak out, at least not permanently. There could be another element in the mix. Perhaps Shockwave had something to do with it, or perhaps he was unaware.

Huge quantities of unguarded energon left on scattered planets for many millennia are surely a tempting bounty for those creatures who can exploit them. Also, certain creatures could lie in wait for others who come to claim the energon.
