Aniversary Edition Megatron?

Post by Gigatron »

Everyones hopefully gota admit...the 20th aniversary Optimus Prime is by far the best Optimus toy ever made.....but are we ever going to see the same thing of Megatron? I dont think ive ever seen a TF toy that really did the original g1 justice. Sure the energon megs captures the spirit of G1 megatron....but it does a much better job representing Galvatron as a repaint. I would love to see a super articulated painstakingly detailed Megatron just like Optimus was done for the aniversary edition.I think at the least they should have the leaders of the two transformer factions that started it all.

Why isn't G1 Megatron being reissued in the US?

As a toy company, Hasbro must follow certain child safety laws. The US (and many other countries) no longer allow realistic toy guns to be sold. It's doubtful that Megatron could be reissued without being colored bright neon and with an orange cap on the barrel, and different states also have their own legislation—so, Hasbro is unlikely to offer a product it cannot sell in all of its markets, and doubtless doesn't want to run the risk of bad press due to some kid getting accidentally shot whilst playing with one of its products, either. It's also unlikely to produce Megatron to sell solely as an adult collectible, since the scale economics aren't in its favour.
Yes, I know it's referencing a reissue, but the reasoning is still the same.

Aside from the fact that the link doesn't work because of the :o smilie coding, there's too much crap in it that doesn't belong there to begin with.

Oh, BTW... 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime was in the works for MORE THAN THREE YEARS. It's not like Hasbro and Takara could say "let's make an Anniversary Megatron" today and put him out tomorrow.

Besides, G-Convoy/Cybertron Optimus tops him in every way.
Really want the original(basic) Rattrap's gun. Please PM me if you have one you might spare!

next anniversary would be in 2009, when TFs are 25 years old, no need to make a new mold every year (Magnus is just a repaint and does not count as an anniversary figure)

also, how can a gigantic gun be realistic? (as Megs would be as tall as Optimus, thus completely unrealistic gunsize :p)

We're talking about a country that considers G1 Sixshot's gun mode "realistic".

They could always go with the tank alternative. I still think an aniversary Megatron would be a beautiful toy....and it WOULD make one badass looking gun, but as you pointed out that will probably never happen.I know the next signifgant aniversary is a ways away but its still something to dream about....The last few years have seen the aniversary Optimus and the long aniticipated creation of a Unicron action figure..these guys are on a role!

As for the kitbash, not bad eh? Anyone know what he used to make it?

Just what part of 'link doesn't work?' didn't you get? Unless you're talking about runamok's link. In that case, he used a G2 Megatron\RID Bludgeon figure, some white paint and a botteclap for the cannon ;)

No, but you could edit your own spasticated attempt to stop it throwing the board out of kilter.

Simple gun solution.
Have it fire bullets, require waiting period and I.D.

Brilliant.

Hasbro might not be up for that, though :(

What'd be cool, though, would be if they made a 25th anniversary Megatron for the military that turned into a firing gun. Then the fanboys would all enlist, get shipped off to wherever America was invading, ****, defending liberty in that week, and get killed.

MP Convoy is an over glorified TF figure with good articulation but that's it. Besides, he came out in a line that turned out not to be tf exclusive at all.

GF Convoy has much more playability, and the mecha design is much better...

As I see it, the chances of getting a Decepticon character in the MP line are slim. And if it's going to be anybody, it'll be Galvatron. MUCH easier to incorporate to a toy than Megatron.
