UPDATED 6/13/07: Preview/Images of Megatron: Origin up at IDW

Post by zigzagger »

I apologize in advance if this does not constitute as "news" worthy....edit: okay, I guess it is news. :o

Lurking, as I tend to do, around the IDW forums, I stumbled upon some new line-art images for the upcoming Megatron:Origin.

It does.

I feel happier about Milne after seeing those. Not feeling his movie covers.

Damn, need to get caught up with the IDW forum...

I think I too am falling for all the hype surrounding this mini-series. Which reminds me, I need to make an order for the 4-issue subscription. Hopefully it will live up to the hype......:glance:
**recalls hype around some of the DW stories**

Just noticed that Megatron's fellow constructionists all have the same bucket-head helmets as he does. Yes, a meaningless observation, but an interesting one nonetheless.

Yes - yes, you should. It'll make me feel less foolish for worrying about posting content. ;)

There's some fantastic work by Roche up there as well, particularly the re-done pages of Target: 2006. Wonderful.

Looks good so far.

Minor observation: Based on that first pic, it looks like he's a miner holding some kind of energy pick-axe while holding a chunk of something (Energon?). I don't know if there're any differences between a miner and a construction bot in the IDW-verse (meaning both functions can be performed by the same bot) though.

No, no, no, no, no!

You're all reading the first picture wrong. He's clearly singing karaoke and is so touched by the lyrics that he's crying.

Worryingly, that's exactly what it looks like.

Megatron's blues:

'Working on a chain gang, 97 hours a day - sure is a drag. One 'a these days, I'm gonna stick it to the man'.

Or something like that.

The disco ball isn't functioning! Call an electrician! What does he mean, it'll take over a week? Why does he need a minder with a big gun? ;)

Looks very nice, though, and the detail shows up well.

it looks like scourge is an autobot, as detailed in the fourth and seventh panel..
really haven't seen much facial hair on robots in a while. which makes sense, when you think about it...

That's a great colouring style for that art. Well paired.

redman, I'm pretty sure that's not Scourge. More likely Sentinel Prime.

see, that's a thing that is said nicely. I thought it could be sentinel prime, to be fair, but it really had the whole head/mustahce of Scourge...

Just pointing it out. some people have only seen the movie and G1 cartoons, so you can't hold me accountable

and going for a cheap laugh, on my account

Anyone notice the cameo by Armada Megatron in the last panel of page 2?

Also, shouldnt cybertron be golden? Assumeing the golden age even exists in the new IDW universe.

No, can't say that I did. Care to point us in the right direction? :)

Has that term existed beyond the G1 mythos? If it did/does, I assume it is "golden'" in a figurative sense - i.e, referring to a time of peace, when there was no conflict ("the good ol' days"), rather than literally being gold - i.e. furnished like Donald Trump's mansion.

I would've thought it was gilded, just to cut down on the overhead..

you know, for combover space.

a double entendre, for those scoring at home
