springer

| Personal Profile | Cartoon Biography | Quotes |

Personal Profile: Springer was the first and most popular Autobot Triple-Changer to be introduced in the third season of Transformers. Springer was an all around great soldier; he was bold, courageous and not afraid to jump into action even when the odds were stacked against him. He was a fun loving Autobot that loved to crack jokes about Decepticons as well as his fellow Autobots. A good squad leader, he was ranked very high among the Autobots and was put in leadership positions when he was needed.

Episodes appeared in: Transformers: The Movie, Five Faces of Darkness parts 1-5, Fight or Flee, Ghost in the Machine, Nightmare Planet, Web World, Dweller in the Depths, Only Human, Grimlock's New Brain, Call of the Primitives, Burden Hardest to Bear and Dark Awakening.

Cartoon Bio: Springer’s origin is unknown in the cartoon. He was not present on the Ark, or on Cybertron in 1984 and 1985, meaning that he must have been somewhere else, possibly in deep space. His character seems to have a certain maturity that would make it seem like he had been around prior to 1984 and 1985. During the Autobot City Battle of 2005, he was called on to bring the City’s defences online. He survived the attack and was vital in slowing down the advances of Devastator and other Decepticons. After the battle and Optimus Prime’s death, Springer was among the small group of Autobots that went to destroy Unicron. He was among the Autobots in Ultra Magnus’ ship who crash-landed on the Planet of Junk. After Galvatron destroyed Ultra Magnus, Springer took a leadership role among the small group of Junkions, and helped them fend off Wreck-Gar and the Junkions. During the attack on Unicron, Springer contributed by fighting off the many defence mechanisms within the Chaos Bringer’s body. Springer remained a high-ranking Autobot under Rodimus Prime’s leadership, and when Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike were kidnapped, he was vital in tracking them down. He and Arcee saved Rodimus Prime and Grimlock from a group of de-energized Decepticons on Charr. After the rescue, Rodimus Prime thought he was going to die, and was preparing to pass the Matrix of Leadership to Springer, which would have made him the new leader of the Autobots. Rodimus pulled through, however, much to the relief of Springer. Springer was among the Autobots who helped save Ultra Magnus, Kup and Spike from the Quintessons, but he was also catapulted into deep space after the botched rescue mission. Upon landing on the Planet of Goo, Springer became the casualty of a Goo ‘garbage truck’ that reduced him into small pieces. The Junkions were able to rebuild him, however. Springer made a strong impact for the Autobot cause in many battles after that. He helped fight off the alliance of the Decepticons and Quintessons when they attacked Cybertron, and he contributed when the Decepticons attempted to take control of Sandstorm’s home planet. Springer was one of the Autobots that had to fight off monsters that were created from Daniel Witwicky’s nightmares. In this battle,he was forcedto form an alliance with the Predacon leader, Razorclaw. When the Autobots were investigating a human terrorist organization,Springer was turned into a human being, along with Rodimus Prime,Ultra Magnus and Arcee. Springer played a major role in getting them back to their real bodies, when he was able to pilot his real body from its helicopter cockpit. Springer’s fate in the Cybertronian War is unknown. It is not known where he was when the Hate Plague was spread, but it is assumed that he became infected. He was also not among the Autobots who travelled to Nebulas, and Binary Bonded with the Nebulons. Springer could have possibly been on Earth during this event, so one would assume that he was around to see Cybertron reach its second Golden Age.
