Episode Died In: Transformers: The Movie
Bio: Megatron is perhaps the greatest Decepticon
leader in Transformer history. He has led his group of soldiers
into battle against the Autobots on numerous ocasions, but they
have always been defeated. Megatron's hatred for Optimus Prime
and his Autobots has been well documented. Megatron and his Decepticons
fought the Autobots for many years trying to steal the energy
from Earth so that they could replenish Cybertron's energy resources
and counquer the universe. Eventually, in the year 2005, the Decepticons
were able to defeat the Autobots and take control of Cybertron.
Megatron had many loyal followers, but one Decepticon failed to
realize that Megatron would always be the Decepticon leader and
always wanted leadership for himself. I am of course speaking
of Starscream. In a twist of fate however, it was Starscream himself
who played a big part in the demise of Megatron.
Cause of Death: After a grueling fight with Optimus
Prime in Autobot City on Earth, Megatron and the Decepticons retreated
for Cybertron to take care of the injured and regroup to attack
the Autobots again. Once in space, Astrotrain informed the Decepticons
that they had to jettison some weight, or he would never make
it to Cybertron. Starscream and the healthy Decepticons took a
vote and agreed that the injured Decepticons would have to be
tossed out of Astrotrain, including Megatron. Starscream tossed
Megatron out of the ship, even though Megatron said that he was
still functioning. The Decepticons left for Cybertron inside Astrotrain
and had left Megatron to die along with Skywarp, Thundercracker,
Shrapnel, Kickback, and Bombshell. However, while floating in
space, the six injured Decepticons soon came across the giant
transforming planet known as Unicron. Unicron offered Megatron
and his injured comrades new bodies if Megatron would destroy
the new Autobot leader known as Ultra Magnus, who was given the
Autobot matrix of leadership after Optimus Prime had died after
his fight with Megatron. Megatron refused at first, but changed
his mind after Unicron threatened to send him and the Decepticons
into oblivion. Unicron then reformatted Megatron's body into....Galvatron.
Unicron then turned Skywarp into Cyclonus, Galvatron's second-in-command.
Unicron also turned Thundercracker into Scourge, the tracker,
and the three Insecticons were turned into Scourge's henchmen,
the Sweeps.
